How to Apply Your Street Address Decal - Back40Life
- Is the mailbox decal easy to apply?
- Our decals are simple to apply and can be done by yourself. We include an instruction sheet with each of our decal orders that walks you through the steps to successfully apply it to your mailbox. We also have a short video on our FAQs page that will walk you through the application process.
- Are your decals masked?
- Our street address decals are masked here at our studio. Simply peel the backing sheet off and apply to your mailbox.
- The decal will not stick to our mailbox. What should we do?
- The biggest thing to keep in mind while applying the decal is that the surface needs to be very clean. Ensure the surface is dry before application and always use your test sample (the small black heart) to be sure the surface is ready for application and that you understand the application process. The vinyl is pressure activated, be sure to apply pressure when applying by using either a wooden spoon or spatula, or credit card. Once the decal is adhered to the mailbox it should stick for many years.
- We have a textured mailbox. Will our mailbox decal stick?
- The decal will adhere to most surfaces, but will not stay in place if the surface is wet, oily, or dusty during application. It will not adhere to rough surfaces well. We recommend using a spray clear sealer, such as Krylon, on your mailbox. This will give the vinyl a smooth surface to adhere to. We do not recommend using a clear sealer after the decal is applied. This will cause the vinyl to crack when the temperature changes.
- How will my mailbox decal be packaged?
- Our standard sized mailbox decal will come in a white photo mailer envelope. Our large sized mailbox decals come in a small brown shipping tube.
